Gisle Hannemyr's Web Workbook

Day-long Penelope wove at the web, but by night she would unravel what she had done.

- Homer: Odysseys XXIV

Hi. I'm Gisle Hannemyr. This is my website.

I first set up a personal website in the summer of 1993, when some friends at Oslonett set up our first web server on a spare Sun 3/60 computer. I've added to it since then, treating it more or less as an interactive workbook.

The best entry to this site is probably the site map. It site map, gives an overview of the contents on the site.

On this site you will find my essays (both work-in-progress and published material). If it has been published, the original publication source and date is given at the end of the article – please use this for citation purposes. If no external source is given, it's unpublished (and may go away or change in the future). If you want to cite unpublished work on the web, always give the full URL and include a “Date viewed” in your citation.

Also on this site are my some free software to download, and even a few answer pages that I maintain.

At the bottom of most of my pages, you'll find the image of a pencil, which takes you to a simple feedback form, and the image of a house, which takes you back to my home page. Some subsites also display arrows to facilitate moving within the subsite.

There are no frames on this site, so the navigation buttons in your browser should work as you'd expect.
